To launch a biophilic flooring collection into a fatigued B2B market and make interior architects and designers stop, look, and design with intention.

The Context

The post-pandemic return to office created a complicated moment for commercial interior design. Organizations were rethinking workspace entirely — how much space they needed, what it should feel like, and whether the investment was worth making. For the architects and designers specifying those spaces, the product landscape felt saturated and the pitches felt the same.

Interface, a global leader in commercial flooring and long committed to sustainability across its full product lifecycle, was preparing to launch Rising Signs — an eight-tile biophilic modular collection designed by VP of Global Product Design Kari Pei. The collection had a genuine design philosophy at its core: bold, architectural lines evoking tension bridges, fire escapes, and the structural geometries that connect urban life to the natural world. Each tile is carbon neutral across its full lifecycle, verified through Interface's Carbon Neutral Floors program.

The opportunity was real. So was the challenge. Getting fatigued specifiers to engage with a new collection required more than a product announcement. It required a campaign that made the design philosophy visible, felt, and immediately applicable to the work designers were being asked to do.

Studio 4258 was brought into the project as a creative partner to Atlanta-based advertising agency Hothouse, leading visual identity development and art direction across the full campaign.

A campaign capable of communicating a complex design metaphor — the intersection of urban geometry and organic nature — to a B2B audience of interior architects and designers who evaluate products with both aesthetic and functional criteria in mind.

The visual direction needed to honor the collection's philosophical depth without becoming abstract or inaccessible. At the same time, the campaign had to operate across multiple channels and contexts simultaneously, from digital advertising to physical showroom materials to synchronized regional launch events. Every touchpoint needed to feel cohesive and considered.

In a competitive B2B market where most product launches blur together, the work had to earn attention before it could drive specification.

What Changed

The Rising Signs campaign directly drove a sales increase of over 13% for the product line, accelerating B2B specification and bulk ordering in a post-pandemic market where commercial interior investment was uncertain.

The campaign earned the MetropolisLikes NeoCon Award and Interior Design's HiP Award Honoree distinction in the Workplace: Carpet category — two of the most recognized validation marks in the commercial design industry.

The modular compatibility story embedded in the campaign also effectively communicated the collection's ability to pair with LVT and nora rubber without transition strips, driving cross-selling and margin expansion for Interface's broader One Interface corporate strategy.
